Suburb undergoing revitalisation, Vic
One suburb is undergoing an extensive revitalisation program in Victoria, with new stages underway.
An $80 million housing project has recently been announced by the state government as part of the overall plan for Norlane.
Hamline Homes, Porter Davis and Burbank Australia have been chosen to build the majority of 320 new affordable private and public dwellings in the Norlane suburb over the next three years.
"These builders were selected by the Department of Human Services from a very strong field of tenderers," housing minister Wendy Lovell said.
"This project will revitalise Norlane, with a mix of public and affordable private housing, along with new local opportunities, jobs and investment," Ms Lovell continued.
The new dwellings, to be built by 2015, is part of a four-year plan for the area announced last November and is one of the largest public and private housing projects across the state.
The new properties are aimed at attracting younger families, and will remain low-density.
The revitalisation is tipped to benefit the whole Geelong area.
