Developments expand in Cockburn, WA

Cockburn Central Town Centre is looking to expand, calling for expressions of interest from developers to purchase and develop the five remaining mixed-use lots of Stage 2.

The project is expected to include 1,100 apartments that will house about 2,000 residents, expanding from the 550 residents that currently occupy 300 apartments.

Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the successful transformation of Stage 1 had seen Cockburn Central Town Centre deliver residential apartments, business, lifestyle and recreation facilities in the southern suburbs.

“Cockburn Central Town Centre is one of the State Government’s priority projects that demonstrates the delivery of Activity Centres under the Directions 2031 and Beyond policy,” Mr Grylls said.

“The EOI seeks to identify suitable partners to develop one or more of the remaining mixed-use lots which range in size from 3,299sqm to 1.05ha.”

The centre was expected to generate up to 1,000 jobs and the Minister said it would host two front-line government agencies - FESA headquarters and a planned Cockburn Central Police Hub.
