Most in-demand suburbs revealed

The four most sought after suburbs for property in the country are in Adelaide, according to the country’s biggest property listing website.

Realestate.com.au complied the ten most sought after suburbs, with prospective buyer searches spiking in certain areas.

The inner-city suburb of Parkside in Adelaide topped the list, with a ratio of 119 buyers per house according to data on realestate.com.au.

The chief product officer at REA Group – owner of realestate.com.au - Henry Ruiz, said the list gives a good forecast for upwards pressure on property prices.

“Our website data gives unique insights into consumer demand for particular suburbs, which translates into increased participation in the market three or four months down the track,” he said.

“Home owners living in these highly sought after suburbs can expect strong interest in their home if they consider selling in the next few months,” said Mr Ruiz.

Anthony Toop, managing director of Adelaide-based Toop & Toop Real Estate, said it wasn’t a surprise that Parkside was once again the top sellers’ market.

“Parkside adjoins the city parklands and is well within walking distance of the CBD, as well as having some very trendy cafes and shopping strips right on its doorstep,” Mr Toop said.

“Previously a worker’s suburb, the area is full of housing with character and style, perfect for renovations and young couples. For such a prime location, it is relatively affordable.”

The national top ten suburbs were:
1. Parkside (SA)
2. Norwood (SA)
3. Walkerville (SA)
4. Hazelwood Park (SA)
5. Mont Albert (VIC)
6. Clifton Hill (VIC)
7. Park Orchards (VIC)
8. Unley (SA)
9. North Rocks (NSW)
10. Carlton North (VIC)
