A new campaign has been launched by the New South Wales and federal governments to encourage capital city residents to relocate to seven regional New South Wales cities – concentrating on a better quality of life, and of course, more affordable housing.

Albury, Armidale, Tamworth, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga, are the seven ‘Evocities’ featured in the campaign with ‘Evo’ referring to the cities’ energy, vision and opportunity.

According to the campaign, a move to an Evocity is a move to a “quality life with less traffic, a greater lifestyle, an embracing and safe community, and a cheaper, bigger house to raise your family”.

For aspiring home buyers who are disheartened by the cost of buying in the nation’s capital cities, relocating to an Evocity could be a worthwhile consideration.

The cost of buying is substantially lower in these regional centres, with the median house prices in Albury and Armidale, for example, $260,000 and $275,000 respectively, according to the campaign. This compares to a median of $590,000 in Sydney and $490,000 in Melbourne.

Furthermore, these cities have also been highlighted for their strong job prospects, quality infrastructure and facilities as well as positive population growth. Evocities even promises to help you with all the logistics of a relocation including securing employment.

Of course moving to a new city is a major decision and will require a lot of thought and research. Check out the Evocities website to learn more about the listed cities’ and compare their offerings and think hard about what is important to you in a location.
