The tool will become a national voluntary standard for the planning, design and delivery of best practice sustainable community development projects.
With support from all of Australia's state government land organisations, some of Australia's largest local authorities, leading developers, academic institutions and industry, GBCA chief executive Romilly Madew said Green Star - Communities was the GBCA's most ambitious project in its nine year history.
"We commend Australand for supporting the Green Star - Communities project, which will play a fundamental role in shaping sustainable cities of the future.”
Ms Madew said Australand's 'gold' sponsor status demonstrated the company's commitment to being a market leader in the provision of sustainable community developments.
"Australand's contribution to the Green Star - Communities project will be fundamental in helping us to identify best practice standards across the planning, delivery and performance of sustainable communities," she said.
