A further 28 per cent of the 2000 survey respondents said they would invest in a deck as their top yard priority.
PRDnationwide research director Aaron Maskrey said the result confirmed that outdoor living is now considered an integral part of a home.
“It’s a cost effective way to improve the liveability and value of your home,” he said.
“When you take the time to plan an outdoor add-on to your home, the result can be a versatile living space and a value-boosting addition to your home.”
Interestingly, 19 per cent of respondents said a work shed would be their number one outdoor addition.
Pools and spas were the top priority for just 10 per cent of respondents and tennis courts a mere three per cent.
