Holiday renting most popular in Tasmania
Property buyers planning to invest in holiday rentals should look to Tasmania, a new report shows.
Tasmanians are more likely to rent out an apartment or holiday house than holidaymakers from any other state.
Almost 80 per cent of Tasmanians surveyed in the Stayz Holiday Habits Report identified their preferred holiday accommodation type as a holiday house or apartment rental.
The report, conducted by Nielsen for Stayz, surveyed more than 3,500 people over a four-week period.
The report identifies that apartment rentals and holiday houses were most popular in SA (54 per cent), QLD (52.2 per cent), NT (49.6 per cent), ACT (48.7 per cent), VIC (45.6 per cent) and NSW (43.4 per cent).
West Australians showed a preference for hotels (45.6 per cent).
The latest Consumer Price Index from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) saw domestic holiday travel and accommodation expenditure increase in the September quarter in seven of the capital cities, most notably in Hobart which saw expenditure increase by 4.2 per cent.
Perth reported a drop of 1.9 per cent.
