Darwin growth prompts new rail

Darwin is geared up for future growth with future rail corridors in the planning phase, according to Chief Minister Paul Henderson.
“As well as providing new housing at Palmerston east and the future city of Weddell, we’re planning for future construction at rapid transit corridors along key routes when required,” Mr Henderson said.
However, until the population reaches 255,000 in Darwin, it will not be commercially viable and buses will be the main beneficiaries of funding.
